| The ancient English market town of St Ives, in the old county of Huntingdonshire now merged with Cam bridgeshire, UK, sits on the banks of the River Great Ouse. St Ives is famous for its Chapel on the Bridge, one of only three left in the whole of the United Kingdom. Formerly known as Slepe the town became St Ives after the discovery of the burial of St Ivo. St Ivo was supposed to have chosen St Iv es as his home over 1000 years ago as did Oliver Cromwell some 600 years later. St Ives still holds enormous markets every Bank Holiday Monday as it has done since the days of St. Ivo. |
