Ada standard Iso Iec.
| CiteSeerX - Document Details (Isaac Councill, Lee Giles): The revised Ada standard (ISO/IEC-8652:199 5, commonly referred to as Ada 95) was released by the International Standards Organization (ISO) in February 1995. One of the unique features of this standard is that it is divided into a Core Langua ge, which must be fully implemented, and several Specialized Needs Annexes, which provide standard d efinitions for additional features for particular application areas. Of particular interest to deve lopers of safety-critical software is Annex H: Safety and Security. This Annex specifies detailed do cumentation requirements and facilities to support enhanced understanding of program execution paths and for reviewing object code. It also provides facilities for restricting the use of certain langu age constructs. This paper will discuss Annex H and will also present the charter of the recently fo rmed Annex H Rapporteur Group. | The purpose of this paper is to present several additions to Ada which improve real time properties of the language. |
CiteSeerX - Document Details (Isaac Councill, Lee Giles): . The purpose of this paper is to present several additions to Ada95 which improve real-time properties of the language. In detail, we intro duce a new kind of loops, so-called discrete loops, we show that recursion can be used for real-tim e applications without harm, if a few conditions are met, and we present an approach how the interf ace of a class can be augmented by information concerning the worst-case time and space behavior. 1 Introduction The most significant difference between real-time systems and other computer system s is that the system behavior must not only be correct but the result of a computation must be avail able within a predefined deadline. It has turned out that major progress in order to guarantee the t imeliness of real-time systems can only be achieved if the scheduling problem is solved properly. Mo st scheduling algorithms assume that the runtime of a task is known a priori. Thus the worstcase per formance of a task plays

The Addition of Persistence and its Consequences.
CiteSeerX - Document Details (Isaac Councill, Lee Giles): . Research into persistent programming lan guages and systems in recent years has shown that the technology is useful for developing complex so ftware in many problem domains. This paper explores the issues and consequences of adding persistenc e to Ada95. The persistence extensions support transparent migration of objects between a program 39;s address space and a persistent store in a way that preserves both type safety and encapsulation of abstract data types. 1 Introduction Ada has recently undergone a major cycle of review and upda te. The result of this is the new programming language Ada95[12] which is, in the main, backward com patible with Ada83[18]. Two of the principle changes to Ada were the addition of constructs to make it a fully fledged object-oriented language and the use of annexes for defining specialist language capabilities. This paper examines the emerging technology of persistence, and considers how persiste nt programming can be su
